Title: His name is Wonderful
Bible verse: Isaiah 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Every child of God is born to be a wonder to the world. According to John 3:8, everyone born of the spirit is born a living wonder. Mark 16:17-18 says” And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

By divine ordination, every child of God is born a sign and wonder by divine ordination. Isaiah 8: 18 says “ Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion”.
Even though we know who we are, we need to know how to operate in that realm. What do you need to do to be a sign and wonder.?

Exodus 4:17 says “And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs” and Isaiah 11:1 says “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD” Combinning these two verses, it is clear that to be a sign and wonder you need to carry Jesus every where you go. The name of Jesus is so full of wonders and engaging that name ‘Jesus’ is one way to evoke signs and wonders to flow in our life.

In Acts 3: 6 Peter had no money to give the lame man but with the name of Jesus he was able to do wonders and the lame man got up and began to walk. The name of Jesus can bring anybody out from issues of life.

You need to know how to engage the name of Jesus to see wonders in your life. There is healing, protection, blessing in the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is key to answered prayers, when you pray to God in the name of Jesus, you grab God’s attention. The name of Jesus opens the doors of heaven ( John 14:12) The name of Jesus is anointed, the name of Jesus destroys yokes, demons are subjected to the name. When you engage that name against the operation, the anointing goes forth to fight on your behalf. The name of Jesus guarantees peace in troubled times. There is counsel in that name so when your soul is troubled, call upon the name of Jesus. The bible calls Him the Prince of peace.

With the name of Jesus in your hand, a new day dawns on your life. With faith in the name of Jesus, there is a change of story for you! The bible says in that the signs will follow those that believe, the name puts you in command of every situation in your life. When we engage the name of Jesus n faith, miracles, signs and wonders will follow.

The depth of understanding you have in the name of Jesus will determine the result you get when you make use of the name. Your spiritual understanding of the name of Jesus is key to experiencing your signs and wonders, the name of Jesus is full of wonders Christianity without the supernatural is fake religion, if the supernatural is not happening around you then you are not experiencing true Christianity. By engaging the name of God, you experience the supernatural things, you start to get things . The name of Jesus is a gift from God to the believer, the name of Jesus is the key to every door, you can use the name of Jesus to cross your red sea and overcome your problems.

Prayer Point: Jesus touch me tonight, give me an answer tonight! Go ahead and engage the name Jesus against that challenge in your life!!!!

Text: 2 King 4:8-17

And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.” 2 King 4:8-17

Men and Brethren, the bible says in Heb 12:2, that one of the names of God is ‘FINISHER’ He is able to begin and to finish. Anytime God answers a name, he is committed to perform according to His name. Whatever God has started in your life, He is faithful and will finish it.

I am glad to announce to you that the devil cannot stop what God has started, witches cannot stop the times and seasons of miracles that heaven will perform in your life. There is somebody here people will see you after this week and say truly your God is a finisher. I prophesy to someone here, if your friends won’t help you finish it, God will raise a stranger to help you finish it. No demon can stop what God has started in your life. They that gather against you shall fall for your sake. They might not like you but they cannot stop you. Your enemy will see you enter your new level.

Your destiny cannot stop half way. Your life is not an abandon project. If your friends cannot help you, God will raise your enemies to help you finish it. The two people that appeared in the Transfiguration with Jesus asked God to kill them when they were on earth in the midst of problems. But God said they must finish well. I made demand on the grace that is in this altar, where nobody is speaking for you, EL-Shaddai will make someone to speak for you. What you can believe is what you can become. Your conviction is what sponsors your miracles.

Text ‘But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat….’ – Dan 1:8

Thought for today
A rugged determination to do whatever it takes to be excellent in life is the route to the top.

1. Decision: Decision is a key to excellence. Excellence is a choice, not a gift. Nobody is gifted to be clean or dirty. You must make up your mind to give God the best and to live at your best. An organisation or individual can decide to be the best. From our first year in ministry, we decided to be hosting guests in high class hotels. You can have the attitude even when the finance is not yet available.

2. Determination: Determination is the second key to excellence in life. Determination is refusing to give up even if things do not appear to be working at the moment. The devil will fight your attempt at excellence but you must refuse to give up. People who are addicted to mediocrity will not understand you because of their mediocre mindset. A rugged determination to do whatever it takes to be excellent in life is the route to the top.

3. Discipline: Discipline means paying the price; it is exerting energy. Bishop David Oyedepo said, ‘There is no rise without a price.’ Discipline is doing what is required to get what is desired. Discipline is work. There is no free lunch in life.

4. Diligence: Diligence means attention to details. ‘Seest thou a man diligent in his work, he shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before mere men’ (Proverb 22:29). Refuse to overlook things. If you pick a piece of refuse paper from the ground, let it be properly disposed. Do not do things in a hurry. Take your time to be excellent. It took Solomon 20 years altogether to build his house and the House of the Lord (7 and 13 years to build the House of the Lord and his palace respectively; 1 Kings 6:38 & 7:1). Remember this: a rugged determination to do whatever it takes to be excellent in life is the route to the top.

Assignment
1. Make a decision to apply the above mentioned keys into your life.
2. Move into action and put the keys into practice.

Prayer
Lord, from today, I make up my mind to excel in everything I do. Lord, I receive Your help to achieve excellence, in Jesus’ Name.

Oh, How I Love Judas by Rev. Robert Wimberly

Oh, How I Love Judas
John 13:1
Image for sermon Oh How I Love Judas
13:1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

INTRO:  There is a poem by an unknown author called “The Two Mothers” listen….
Long time ago, so I have been told, Two angels once met on streets paved with gold.

“By the stars in your crown” said the one to the other.  “I see that on earth you too, were a mother”

And by the blue-tinted halo your wear..You too, have known sorrow and deepest despair.”
“Ah yes” she replied, “I once had a son, A sweet little lad, full of laughter and fun.”
“But tell of your child.” “Oh, I knew I was blessed, from the moment I held him closed to my breast”
And my heart almost burst with the joy of that day! “Ah, yes,” said the other, “I felt the same way”
The former continued: “The first steps he took, so eager and breathless; the sweet startled look
Which came over his face…oh he trusted me so” “Ah yes, said the other, “How well do I know”
“But soon he had grown to a tall handsome boy, So giving and kind….it gave me such joy.
“To have him walk down the street, close by my side” “Ah yes, said the other, “I felt the same pride”
“How often I shielded and spared him from pain, when He for others was so cruelly slain.
When they crucified him—they spat in his face. How gladly I would have hung there, and took his place.
A moment of silence “Oh, then you are she…. The mother of Christ” and she fell on one knee.
But she raised her up, and drawing her near…She kissed from the cheek of the woman, a tear.
“Tell me the name of the son you love so, That I may share with your grief and woe”
She lifted her eyes, looking straight at the other…”He was Judas Iscariot; I am his mother”
In that night, so much to be remembered, in which He instituted the Lord’s supper – a night in which nothing but kindness and tenderness flowed from His blessed lips.  In may respects that was the most wonderful evening that ever was in the world.  Never did the shades of evening gather around a more wonderful company….What a wonderful scene  There were 3 events of love that took place that night.
1.     The ceremony of the Last Passover meal with his disciples. This would be the Last Passover before Calvary.  He desired to eat it with everyone of them including his betrayer.
2.     The second, was when he took out a basin and a towel and began to wash his disciples feet.
3.     The third, was when he instituted the Communion, the Blood and the Body.
Oh what a night….Oh what love! Oh what compassion…It seems that there couldn’t be anything that disturb this moment.  It is the Savior’s last moment with his disciples.  Who would dare to ruffle the calm tranquility of such a moment  by one word of dark suspicion?  HUSH….The Savior is speaking…and in the serenity of the moment he says….”Verily, verily I say unto you that one of you shall betray me”
Jesus did not stand and say this to spoil the moment…everything he was saying here was said with the attitude of Love….He was reaching

Judas Iscariot

JU'DAS ISCAR'IOT (Grk. 'Ioudas, from Heb. Judas; 'Iskariotes, "inhabitant of Kerioth"). The son of Simon and one of our Lord's twelve apostles.

His Call. We learn nothing of Judas previous to his call (Matt 10:4; Mark 3:19; Luke 6:16), and yet the appearance of his name in the lists of the apostles would seem to indicate that he had previously declared himself a disciple. It does not seem necessary to speculate upon the motives that influenced Judas to become a disciple, or to attempt a solution of the question why such a man was chosen for the office of an apostle.

As Treasurer. When the twelve became an organized body, traveling, receiving money and other offerings, distributing to the poor, it became necessary that someone should act as steward; we learn that this duty fell to Judas and also that "he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it" (John 12:4-6; 13:29).

Treachery Foretold. Some time previous to the betrayal of Jesus "many of His disciples withdrew, and were not walking with Him anymore" (John 6:66), probably influenced by the disappointment of their earthly expectations or fearful of coming evil. In deep sadness of heart Jesus asked His disciples the question, "You do not want to go away also, do you?" Receiving assurance of faithfulness from the disciples through Peter, "Jesus answered them, 'Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?' Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him" (vv. 67-71). The scene at Bethany, which in John (John 12:3-9) indicates that it was Judas who protested Mary's use of the costly perfume to anoint Jesus' feet (cf. Matt 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9), points to the smallness of spirit that would lead him to betray his Lord.

Jesus loved Judas
Why would Christ say the words he said that night and spoil the spirit of the moment?  Why did he have to speak of his betrayer openly?  I can see no other reason for it but that He might make one last effort to melt his heart
It was as if Jesus was saying:  I love you Judas,  I still have compassion for you..  I picked you. I know you.

I love you.  Let me be your Savior .
All of the Saviors dealings with Judas were intended to convince him that He knew his heart, and he was reaching him with love.

3 Evidences of Love

1.     Washing Feet – Reaching Love was plainly His intention when washing the disciples feet and telling them, that if they be bathed in His blood, they need nothing more than to have feet washed- OH WHAT LOVE….OH WHAT COMPASSION…He takes each disciples feet one by one and washes them…He even takes the sandals off of Judas and perches down and in Love washes him.  He adds at that moment. “Ye are clean every whit….But ye are not all clean”.  JUDAS ARE YOU LISTENING?? THE SAVIOR IS REACHING FOR YOU!!

2.     Passover – When they sat down to eat….Jesus starts reaching again…He says “ I know whom I have chosen, but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.” Judas he has not revealed you yet!! But he’s reaching for you!! Can’t you see the love in his eyes!! He is calling out to you!!

3.     Declaration of Danger – The third reason is his Declaration of Danger to Him…Jesus says…” The son of Man goeth, as it is written of him, but woe unto that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed!  It had been good for that man if he had never been born”  In the two former instances Jesus had showed his love..but now still in love…He’s warning Judas of pending danger and judgment…Heb 12:6-76 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? JUDAS WAKE UP….HE’S WARNING YOU….

JESUS DIDN’T HATE JUDAS HE LOVE HIM….BUT THE BIBLE SAYS THAT JUDAS SLIPPED OUT AND IT WAS NIGHT….IT IS ALWAYS NIGHT FOR THE ONE WHO SLIPS AWAY FROM THE LOVE OF GOD…

ONE LAST ATTEMPT
When Judas came into the garden….ready to do the bidding of Satan…Jesus even tried one more time..

Matt 26:48-5048 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast
49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

Text.--Mat. 5:3: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

In several of the first verses of this chapter, Christ states the distinctive features of the Christian character, and affirms the blessedness of those who possess them. The text gives one of them: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

In this discourse I shall show-

I. What it is to be poor in spirit.
II. Why such are blessed.
 http://salvationist.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/WB-preaching-in-tent.jpg

I. What it is to be poor in spirit. 1. To have a realizing sense of our spiritual state. In this it is implied that we understand our own guilt and helplessness, and realize as a practical fact our own utter emptiness by nature of every thing good, and of any tendency to that which is good. It is one thing to hold this in theory, and another thing to be heartily sensible of the humbling fact. Most professing Christians admit in words that they are in themselves wholly helpless and destitute, but to know and feel as an abiding practical conviction that this is their true spiritual condition how few are able!
